About Jenny

Giang (Jenny) Bui is a first generation Vietnamese-American immigrant. At 15 years old, Jenny came to the United States alone to attend high school in Pennsylvania. After attending Bryant University, Jenny has worked as an interpreter for various organizations including Hospitals and Schools, a liaison for underserved Vietnamese students in Randolph Public Schools, and is the former President of the Board at Playtime at the Polls. Jenny is currently a Workup Specialist for The National Marrow Donor Program which facilitates bone marrow transplants for patients with blood cancer, regardless of their financial status.

Jenny lives in West Greenwich with her husband and two young children and is a fierce advocate and activist for women’s rights, racial justice, and universal healthcare. Through her experiences growing up in Vietnam, raising a baby on her own while attending college and going through the process of becoming an American citizen, Jenny has an up close look at ways in which American systems and infrastructure harm children, women of color, immigrants, and the poor.

Jenny hopes for a brighter future. She believes that Rhode Islanders must set an example for the rest of the country by doing something bold: electing a legislative body that reflects the people, rather than corporate interests and the status quo.
